Privacy Policy

Join For Classroom(“Join For Classroom”, “we”, “our”) is a macOS application published by Kodeora. This policy explains what data Join For Classroom processes, where it goes, and the choices you have. We built the app privacy-first: almost everything stays on your Mac.

1. TL;DR

  • No tracking SDKs.We don't use any analytics or ad networks in the app.
  • Your Google Classroom session lives on your Mac. We load classroom.google.comin Apple's WebKit; cookies and login tokens never leave your device.
  • AI requests are sent to our proxy only when you ask. We forward them to an LLM provider, don't store your content, and never use your input to train models.
  • Purchasesgo through Apple StoreKit. We don't see your card or Apple ID.
  • We don't sell your data — ever.

2. What Join For Classroom stores on your Mac

Join For Classroom saves the following locally on your Mac using Apple's standard storage APIs (SwiftData, UserDefaults, and WebKit's website data store):

  • Classes, reminders, AI chat history, and Pomodoro settings.
  • Google Classroom cookies and login state (in Apple's WebKit data store, per account you add).
  • Preferences such as appearance mode, notification lead times, and menu bar visibility.
  • A random device identifier used to apply AI rate limits.

You can clear AI chat history and webview data at any time from Settings → Privacy inside the app.

3. What leaves your Mac

3.1 AI requests

When you send a message to the AI Study Assistant, Join For Classroom posts it to our secure proxy at api.kodeora.com/classmate/chat. The proxy adds the system prompt for the tool you chose, forwards the conversation to the underlying LLM provider (OpenAI), and streams the response back to you.

  • The proxy logs a hashed device ID and token count for rate limiting. It does not store the content of your messages.
  • Our LLM provider is bound by its enterprise API agreement not to use API data to train models.
  • Free tier: 5 AI queries per UTC day per device. Pro: effectively unlimited.

If you never open the AI Study Assistant, no AI requests are sent.

3.2 Google Classroom

When you open the embedded Google Classroom tab, your Mac connects directly to classroom.google.comusing Apple's WebKit. Join For Classroom does not proxy or intercept this traffic. Google sees you as a normal browser client; your interaction is subject to Google's own privacy policy.

3.3 App Store & StoreKit

Purchases and subscription management are handled by Apple's StoreKit framework. Join For Classroom receives only the product IDs you own, not your payment details or Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy applies to those transactions.

3.4 Notifications & Calendar

Notifications are scheduled locally via Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter. They never touch our servers. If you grant calendar access, Join For Classroom writes events to your macOS Calendar locally via EventKit — we do not receive your calendar data.

4. Accounts and sign-in

Join For Classroom has no user account system of its own. You sign into Google Classroom inside the embedded browser. You can add multiple Google accounts; each gets a separate WebKit data store, isolated from the others.

5. Children

Join For Classroom is designed for students, including those under 13, as a companion to Google Classroom. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is strictly required for app functionality (local state and the anonymous device identifier for AI rate limiting). Parents and guardians may contact us to request deletion of any data.

6. Your rights

  • Access / deletion: because nearly everything lives on your Mac, you can delete Join For Classroom to erase it. For the anonymous AI rate-limit record, email support@kodeora.comand we'll remove it.
  • Export:contact us if you'd like a copy of anything we hold on our servers for your device.
  • Opt-out of AI:simply don't use the AI Study Assistant tools.

7. Security

Join For Classroom is sandboxed with the Hardened Runtime on macOS 14 or later. All network traffic is HTTPS. We scope entitlements to the minimum required: network client, user-selected files (for image → PDF), and optional calendar access.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app and on this page, with a new “Last updated” date.
